Successful people are identifiable by their masterful positive attitude, which makes it appear as if there’s nothing that they couldn’t achieve if they wanted and nothing they couldn’t possess! It is a positive attitude which separates the successful from the losers: a self realized energy that propels towards success as opposed to a self defeating one that creates problems and provokes suffering in life.

Positive attitude is a state and condition of your mind that allows you to handle stress with optimism and patience, promoting hope and nullifying despair. This empowers you to be undeterred by problems, maintain your focus and continue to persevere without frustration, and thus eventually overcome all problems.

So if you have been a pessimist and have been filled with negative thoughts, here’s how to get rid of your problem, embrace your cherished goals and develop a positive attitude.

1. When you sense any signs of negativity or pessimism creeping into your mind, immediately check your thoughts and stop: Instead try to imagine and visualize your favorite memories, expectations or ideals.

2. Experts recommend another way to banish negative thoughts from your mind, a mechanism which involves two basic stages: The first which drives away negative thoughts and emotions, and the second which allows negativity to be infiltrated and overcome with positive thoughts and feelings.

3. Talking to yourself and repeating positive affirmations are proven techniques to develop a positive mindset. So devise your personal pep talk and motivation statement and make it a point to talk to yourself regularly.

4. Another helpful way is to make posters or sticky notes carrying positive and affirmative statements such as: I can do it, Success is mine, My goal is within reach, etc, and to put them up around your home or workplace where you are apt see the message regularly, day and night.

6. Try to make the highly successful people be your friends and acquaintances, and try and spend time with them and know their approach. In the right company, its easy for the secret to a positive attitude to rub off onto you.

7. Begin to read positive self help books and magazine, or better still the biographies or autobiographies of your heroes. You could also attend relevant seminars and workshops.

Remember that a positive attitude can only be cultivated and maintained by you; it is wholly internal to you which no one can take away. It requires much time, effort and dedication, but is an invaluable asset.

Ask yourself: Am I happy being where I am today?

Knowing how to answer this question is crucial because believing that you are happy can actually increase your happiness and contentment, and give you the confidence and positive attitude for anything that you wish to achieve. Do not simply wish to be happy but come out and believe that you really are. Enjoy and be thankful for the little things in life and see what a difference it makes.

Ask yourself: Am I appealing to the opposite sex?

Whether you know the answer to this or not, make every effort to make yourself know that you indeed are appealing to the opposite sex. Take seriously for a moment the thought of a physical makeover. Get yourself into shape or get yourself some new clothes. Then walk tall and confidently. Confidence breeds success and a continued positive feeling. Even an ugly person can walk confidently, and confidence is appealing to the opposite sex .

Ask yourself: What Motivates me?

If you do not already know what motivates you, that could be part of the reason why it may be easy for you to slip into a negative frame of mind. Find out what things drive you, what motivates you? Focus your energy and efforts on those things that motivate you and you will find that you are doing things that you enjoy. Put your energy into the things that drive you and let the other things in life go. You don’t need to be wasting all of your time and energy doing unnecessary things that have zero motivating factors in there for you. Define what drives you and do it!

Ask yourself: What really makes you tick?

Take a hard look at what really gives you your identity. Define your goals in life, big and small. Work towards attaining your goals. Are these goals the things that define your life? If not, find some goals that do. If the goal you are striving for is a degree in accounting, but what makes you tick in life is wild outdoor adventures, maybe you have the wrong goal. Set your goals to coordinate with what makes you tick, and then you can enjoy achieving success.

Well as luck has it, a nice gentlemen approached me through email about a Craigslist ad I placed. He was very cordial and polite. Asked about my day, mentioned about his. Asked about my product and made me an offer. I told him his offer was being outbid by another bidder, so he offered more. Well, as it turns out, he sends me his cashier’s check for the product and said he’d pick the product up later in the week when he is back in town. OK, no problem, I’ve had that happen before. But for all you newbie’s about to be scammed like me, and common knowledge that I just learned, if there is more to your transaction than this….run!!!

The nice gentleman followed up the next day with an email stating that he is having a mover pick up my product. That is when I started to doubt. He said that he just sent the full check to me for my product and the mover’s fee. OK, so he wanted me to give the fee to the mover when the product was picked up. Not so fast. (Most of you reading this know what is coming next and you are probably thinking I am an idiot, which…..I accept that criticism…) But anyway, this article if for those ignorant to this particular scam, so don’t crucify me here!

What happens next you say? OK I go to the bank and tell them I want to cash the check. They look at the check funny and then take it back to the branch manager. I’m still thinking “no big deal” because any time I ever cashed a large check, this same bank handled it the same way. Upon return, the teller cashed the check without a question.

Later that day I get an email from the scammer….”My shipper has been delayed, he can pick up your product next week, but needs his fee advanced to him before now. Please (duh…) send via Money gram to help me out. Thanks very much for your trustworthiness and helpfulness in this matter.

Stupid innocent me.

So I go to the local Rite Aid to the money gram phone. All over the phone are stickers saying “Don’t send money to somebody you do not know personally”….and in my mind I’m thinking “Why not? The bank cleared the check, I have cash in hand. What is the problem?” So I go ahead and forward the shippers fees over money gram, and let the scammer know that it’s taken care of. (I didn’t know it was a scam at the time…I still thought I was helping this nice older gentleman out….dumb dumb dumb!!!) Money gram goes through. Bye bye money. Ok, the newbies at this are thinking what I was thinking…”so what, it wasn’t really your money you forwarded, what’s the problem?”

Well anyway, that night the scammer tells me, “Thanks very much, you did a good job and helped me a lot. Please help one more time…my shipper who is going to pick up your stuff had to pay my sister in Florida to cover doctor bills for my sick and dying father. Please cash this check and send it to two people I know who urgently need the money. You can keep $600 for your own commission.

OK, now I got red flags popping up in my mind everywhere. I take the check to the bank today and guess what? Yeah…worthless. I also found out the first check he sent me for the Craigslist stuff, well that was worthless also. So what happens you might ask? With the check he sent today, nothing happened. The bank simply didn’t honor the check. With the check earlier this week that the bank cashed for me, and then I later forwarded on to this guys “shipper”….well, the bank took my own money out of my account to cover that check. Yeah, how about that?

Basically, I lost $2000 in a day. Trying to be helpful. But isn’t that what scamming is all about? Anyone that has never had this happen to them, be very wary at all times….if this has happened to you, post up on here and let me know how and what happened.

I am actually writing in anger at the moment because this just happened, but hopefully any reader of this will be more informed in the future so that this won’t happen to them also.

Success is characterized in various forms, also has many meanings depending on what one is seeking for in his life, relationship and career.  To athletes, success can mean obtaining that gold medal, to parents’ success can mean raising children with good moral values, to doctors, success can mean saving a life and to some it can mean a job promotion or acquiring wealth. It actually depends on one’s perspective of the life that one has. Understanding and success perceptions are as abundant as there are stars in the sky.

One apparent things about success is that every individual has to determine the true meaning of success in his own life. The one’s who walk through life making an attempt to accomplish “success” through someone else’s standards or through the standards of one’s society will continuously be lacking of that successful feeling.

The modern dictionary defines success as that certain measure or degree of achievement or accomplishment or as a desirable and favorable outcome.

One should make a decision on what one truly wants that can offer a desirable or favorable outcome that must be in each aspect of one’s life. To accomplish success, one has to set realistic goals for his life, meaning goals that can be achieved. One should measure success as to how close one comes to accomplishing one’s goals that one has set for himself based on one’s skills and abilities.  Along with realistic goals, one must always make some goals that always seem borderline “un”realistic…why?  Because if a goal is too easy to obtain, the goal was not set high enough.  Aim high, shoot high!  If you aim high but miss just below your target, you are still hitting something higher than what you have hit so far….so to speak.
